Allurion Technologies, a company dedicated to ending obesity, today unveiled Coach Iris, a new generative AI-enabled health coach designed to improve outcomes within the Allurion Program and maximize clinic efficiency. Developed in close collaboration with Allurion’s world-leading weight management professionals and behavioral scientists, Coach Iris is designed to instantly expand the care team by providing support, education and motivation at all times.
“By designing Coach Iris to meet the specific needs of consumers looking to lose weight, we expect to increase the accuracy of Coach Iris by reducing the risks of potentially inaccurate edge cases, while also ensuring that appropriate safety and assessment mechanisms are in place.”
Allurion is committed to providing new digital tools and services to improve weight loss outcomes and satisfaction. The company believes Coach Iris, offered through the Allurion App, can serve as a powerful complement to healthcare providers, giving patients 24/7 access to personalized support and guidance. After launching the Allurion App, patients can initiate a conversation with Coach Iris on a wide range of health and weight loss topics. For example, patients can request customized meal plans, recipes, exercise routines, stress management techniques and motivational insights.
Allurion prioritizes accuracy and safety for a diverse group of consumers. “By designing Coach Iris to meet the specific needs of consumers seeking weight loss, we expect to increase the accuracy of Coach Iris by reducing the risks of potentially inaccurate edge cases while also ensuring that appropriate safety and review mechanisms are in place,” said Jeff Feldgoise, Senior Vice President of Digital at Allurion.
In addition to responding to patient requests, Coach Iris is designed to proactively reach out to ensure patients remain actively engaged in their weight loss program, leading to longer engagement and more successful results. Allurion believes Coach Iris will become a trusted companion, available to patients when they need help, motivation or just a listening ear so they never feel alone on their weight-loss journey.
“Our digital tools are supported by our unique and proprietary dataset collected from 80 countries. We are fully committed to providing our clinics with the best weight management AI tools to strengthen their care delivery and take the Allurion program to a new level of effectiveness,” said Dr. Shantanu Gaur, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Allurion. “Coach Iris is an example of bringing this vision to life, enhancing the consumer experience while striving to make our healthcare professionals more productive and able to deliver exceptional care to a much greater number of patients.”
Allurion invites attendees to the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) conference in Naples, Italy, to experience Coach Iris firsthand at booth #509-510. They can see how this powerful AI-assisted health coach improves the patient care experience within the Allurion Program, aiming for unprecedented patient success.
Coach Iris will be available from October 2023 at no additional cost to clinics subscribing to the Allurion Virtual Care Suite VCS+ or VCS Custom plans.
